ABOUT
Hi, I'm Lauren
I began my riding career at 8 years old under the tutelage of Nancy Dillon- legendary treasure of Piedmont fox hounds hunt in Virginia. From there I focused my hunt seat with Sandi Ward Deisterhoft and Monique Bernardo. After my grandmother’s gift of my first horse, (Verband winner Dona Hella) imported from Germany by Suzanne Quarles of American Hanoverian Society, my parents knew it was time to begin integrating my dressage training and sought out the strict eye of USDEF gold medalist and international FEI judge -Libby Anderson.
In my early 20’s, I was lucky enough to be a small puzzle piece in the history of Ned Evan’s great thoroughbred breeding program at Spring Hill farm in Casanova and the Hanoverian producers of Marefield Meadows in Warrenton. It was working at these beautiful locations that I fell in love with breeding and felt that the ensuring of special bloodlines and the joy of aiding others in finding their equine soulmate was in my future. Thus began my journey with Sterling Harbor Riding Academy.
SHRA began with a single Hanoverian mare and has grown into a band of warmbloods and welsh ponies all worth their weight in gold. The mares are not just producers, but also teachers as they are used in the lesson program. Students are able to learn on Devon winners and world traveled Verband winners. Safety is valued above all at SHRA and all guests on site are held to a high standard when it comes to kindness.
